What if you were convicted of a crime you didn't commit and sent to jail...

I'm watching this show called Forensic Files on NBC and they're talking about this guy that served 5+ years in jail b/c three eye witnesses fingered him for the crime and he didn't even commit it. He was later released after they found out that it was mistaken identity.

What would your feelings/reactions be if you got sent to prison for something you didn't do? And what would you do once you got out? :D

Unfortunately this is quite common now a days :( I've seen at least one of these types of shows every month it seems :(

I would be really pissed............ and I would sue everyones asses like Triumph the Insult Comic dog would ;)

ps.......... I would also trade my cig's for soap on a rope ;)

Cheers,
Aquaman

If I got sent to jail, regardless of whether or not I was actually guilty, I'd stay on my best behavior so that I could get parole as soon as possible. That, and I'd always be keeping at least one eye on Bubba. I don't know what I'd do after I was released.

A sense of hopelessness and helplessness. My reactions would depend on the length of the sentence.

didn't one guy get 30 years in jail, until he met another guy that said he would admit to the crime (sorta like shawshank redemption), they dug up some dna evidence, found him not guilty, and now he's free and is suing?

Slightly off topic, but I saw a show also about a man who was sent to jail for somthing he didn't do, he was proved not guilty, but because he tried to escape from prison in the past, he still had to stay for the extra time the escape added to his sentance. :|

So he's still in there... :(

I expect a big fat check with no less than 7 digits on it, or they will never hear the end of it.

I was thinking that too, but that could end up putting you back behind bars with Bubba

well first off, my life would already be ruined anyways (compared to what i could have had).

secondly, i think i could pull it off without getting arrested. i'd do stuff like go to where they work, and make false accusations to their employers. or if they run for political office, make my story really really really well known.

after I got out I would do some really bad things to the people who put me there, if there are such people. I would make it so that I can't get back in jail...I would commit the perfect crime :)

I would escape from prison and find that one-armed man who framed me!

Be thankful that if you're in Texas that George II isn't still governor. You would be crispy before you could prove your innocence.

I would promply escape from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, I would survive as a soldier of fortune.
If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find me, maybe you can hire... tm37;)

Well you survive or you die and I'm into living so first thing would be to win friends and influnence enough people so that I'd survive prison. When I got out, I'd kiss so much reporter booty that my story would be everywhere, garner the sympathy and support of the general public, use that to steamroll a nice fat check for wrongful imprisionment.

All in all, the important thing to me would be to live to get out, without having my face rearranged and my soul crushed !

Can you actually sue anybody?

Presuming you were convicted & sentenced by the infamous "jury of your peers," who would you sue?

I guess you could do this

It would suck for sure, the rage of knowing you did nothing yet being unable to make anyone believe you...

I'd be bitter as hell.

If you get put away falsely for 30 years and then they say I'm sorry and let you out. could you then commit a crime that gets a 30 year sentence and not serve it since you kind of have a 30 year jail credit?

In the case they showed, the physical evidence didn't even match...the case was based on the eye witnesses.

if i was imprisoned for 5 years, i think my losses would be greater than 7 digits, factoring in lost opportunity and future wages. no less than 8 digits here.
