What if you got hit by a car while walking but the car was driving real slow (5-10mph) in a residential area and the car just pushed you off and you fell on your butt?

What do you do- do you just shake it off and leave? I mean you did take a fall. You are apparently okay... do you take his information? Then what? Going into an ambulance is an overkill.

Back in the old days, driver says sorry sincerely and the pedestrian says alright and both go on about their biz... does this still happen in the sue-happy 2009?

1. What would YOU do if YOU were hit?

2. What are you SUPPOSED to do (What does police/insurance want to do)?

Something between nothing and murdering the driver's family, depending on how they handled it, I suppose.

1. If I was hurt, I'd only charge for my hospital bills.

2. If no damage or no issue, no report needs to be made.

Can you answer question 1? What would YOU actually do?

Ok, Ok, I'll answer the question. Take his information. Get myself checked out. If I'm fine, then I'll let it go. Of course if the guy was driving like an asshole, then I'd have to get the cops involved.

Ummm... I've been hit by a car, no bullshit, at roughly that speed.

I was on a public transit island and my light turned green, so I stepped off of it. Unfortunately, I was only 12-ish then, and forgot to check before walking. Also, I may have stepped off 1 or 2 feet from the thick white stop-line for cars. The car ended up picking me up on the ass (I was literally sitting on the hood, like you would if you were leaning against it), and throwing me off as the driver slammed the brake. I landed on my wrist, then continued walking to school. Think I was in shock cause when people were checking on me (I was standing/walking), I just kept repeating that I was fine. Well yes and no. I just went on with my day with a very sore wrist, then went to the family doctor, and confirmed that nothing was broken. Just iced it and went on.

In retrospect, I should have stuck around and went to the emergency room for x-rays or at least a freaking temporary cast/restraint. Asshole driver didn't even check on me, I just remember him getting out of his car and staring while standing by the door. Oh, and I forgot to get his plates or any info. I practically ran off.

Personally, I would just get up and go on my way so long as there was nothing wrong more then some scratches so far as injury.

I bet the driver was in shock. Still stupid to not make sure the person is ok.

I'd get his info just in case the next day you realize you have a broken ass bone or something, but other than that you do nothing. If there is no injury or damaged property, there are no damages to recover.
