I thought my local post office was supposed to be open until midnight... it wasn't.

Will I have a penalty or anything? Can you tell me how I might be able to find one in my area?

Try the main PO in the FLL or Palm Beach. areas.

Call ahead to confirm location while heading southbound on I95.

You can still get there within 1 hour.

don't worry about it.

if they owe you money, you don't even have to file, and they get to keep it.... funny eh?

IRS # 1-800-829-1040 (open until midnight) - call for peace of mind

There is no late filing penalty on a refund return, but a taxpayer who fails to claim a refund within three years of the filing deadline generally loses the right to that refund.

What are they going to do. Fine you because you didn't file on time to claim your money?
Call the IRS at 1-888-796-1074 and ask. (source)

Edit: Nevermind Yzzim has your answer. Buy him a beer if you ever meet him.

Be aware the when others report income on you and you do not file, it can send up a red flag to the IRS. They may wonder what you may be hiding that you do not want to declare.
