What if there were life on Mars ?

Assume we got a sign/signal somehow and knew there was [presumably intelligent] life on Mars ever since 1900. Just a blip, no specific message.

What would we do about it ?

Re-evaluate ourselves.

I'd like to think we would, anyway.

I'd imagine a manned mission would be pushed way up the pipe and preparations would start right now.

I am an agnostic, but maybe "God" planned our universe in such a way (we're the only ones around) so that there wouldn't be any conflict.

Much of the way the Earth is (resources, it's inhabitants) seems pretty well planned, don't you think ?

Maybe Mars was put there just to tease us.

Planned? How so? The inhabitants evolved/adapted to the resources and environment in which they are were present. The Europeans left Europe and came to America, there was conflict with the native Americans, etc... so one can only premise that eventually humans will spread to new planets, and eventually (could be thousands of years from now) we will run into another species and there is bound to be some conflict.

We are the Martians. When the great drought struck we knew we'd have to leave or die. upon arrival on Earth, all we had to do was drive the Neanderthals to extinction and Earth was ours. 😀
