What if Terry was pregnant?

Let's say a male nurse/ orderly has raped Terry, and she is pregnant as a result. (Stranger things have happened). Assume the fetus is less than 5 months old (i.e., it's central nervous system and brain are not formed, and the two lobes of its brain have not yet established neural synaptic contact, i.e., it is almost certainly incapable of feeling pain). Should the feeding tube still be removed? Or should she be kept alive, as a brain-dead fetus incubator, so as to save the baaaaaaaaaaby? Assuming she is kept alive until the baby can be delivered via c-section, should she be kept alive even after the fetus has been removed from her womb (thereby allowing the child to meet it's mother)?

(edit: changed the example to a more realistic scenario.)

That is a... "unique"... what if question.

PVS patients have been raped and have become pregnant before.

I would assume the feeding tube would not be removed until the fetus was born; I doubt a guardian would have the authority to authorize an abortion, whether within the normal legal period for doing so or not.

And what would your answer be?

As an alternate scenario, let's assume a male nurse or orderly at the hospital has been raping Terry and she has become pregnant that way. (Such a scenario is not unheard of).

kill em all, before the government gets a chance to send them to their deaths for the government's reasons.

so a fetus has more "value" (it's life is more worthy of saving) than an adult, human certified as brain dead by neurologists?

a majority of americans support pulling the plug on Terry.

but many (most?) americans seem squeamish about abortion.

how is a fetus any different that Terry, with respect to the degree of personhood it/ she possesses?

The fetus actually has a chance at a normal life.

Terri doesn't.

yeah, but a potential for a normal life in the future doesn't make a fetus more of a person right now in the present moment. How is a fetus any more of a person than Terry Shiavo, that is what I want to know.

Also: Terry doesn't really exist (in the sense of a person with desires and feelings existing) so us desiring for her to have a "Normal" life is really more about our own selfishness and the discomfort we feel at seeing her in her present state. imo.

Is this your fantasy?

do I fantasize about having the opportunity to kill a brain-dead adult with child? no. :)

you missed the point entirely

the Terrys (Terries?) of the world could be kept alive and used as baby factories for gay couples and infertile, heterosexual couples?
