wouldn't that be good idea? charging while in use and when out of pocket. and pda's try to use minimal power

don't know how much power it would produce or how much pda's consume, but if for nothing else, it would help prevent all your data from getting lost by accidentally letting the battery get discharged completely.

Actually I think that's a good idea... However with the way business seems to work, the reason they don't do it, is because it makes TOO MUCH SENSE. You'd think they'd consider something like that, and they probably have, and it's sitting on a shelf in a closet locked away for noone to see, but in the name of science, and moreso in the name of research dollars, they don't.

Makes some sense.

Part of the problem is people keep them in pockets and in hand, so then its not rechargeable. Ideally cars/pda would have solar panels that look like normal parts of the car/pda.

Pukemon, people aren't involved in conspiracies usually. More likely there is a scientific or economic reason why we don't have it.

why wouldn't it charge while in use? how's it different than a calculator?

A handheld PC draws a LOT more power than your average calculator. It would take an extremely large and efficient solar panel to be effective I think.

I think what I was trying to say if you're using it in hand, then you can't get it recharge b/c the screen can't have a panel and your hand will be blocking prob any area that can. Obviously in a pocket the sun can't reach it.

I think a solar powered cell phone would be a good idea, with a battery as a backup...

-expensive
-make the pda bigger
-chances are you wont be using the pda in direct sunlight all the time, and you probably wouldnt let it sit in direct sunlight for a long time to charge (cant be good to let it sit in the sun), which probably negates its usefullness
