Back in the 1700's, white males ruled. Blacks were slaves and women werent thought of much outside the home.
What if the founding fathers wrote the Articles of the Constitution in such a way as:
He is a natural born citizen (or citizen at the time of the Constitution's adoption).
He must be at least thirty-five years old.
He must be an inhabitant for at least fourteen years of the United States.
<Add language about being white.>
I predict that the 14th Amendment (Citizenship, state due process, state equal protection) would overturn the language about being white.
"The Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution (Amendment XIV) is one of the post-Civil War amendments, intended to secure rights for former slaves."
I predict that that 19th Amendment (Women's suffrage) would have fixed the language about 'He' being President to allow a woman to be able to hold that office.
