What if Lucas didnt dub "I am your father" and left it as Obi-wan killed your father?

as you know, the voice of Darth Vader was dubbed over the entire movie.

originally, the guy playing Darth Vader said "Obi-wan killed your father" in that famous scene w/Luke.
but when the voice actor was dubbing, Lucas changed it to I am your father.

Not as big of a plot twist, and probably wouldnt be as memorable or talked about?

Why would Vader go against the emperor because Obi-wan killed Luke's father? Would Leia still be his sister or Vader's daughter?

It's like asking what if Hitler had been accepted to art school. We have no clue what happens next.

I was going to say - I was the biggest Star Wars geek of all time as a kid, and I never had heard that before.

I've read that Lucas wrote all three books before the filming of Star Wars began, but I don't believe that for a second. I think he may have had a broad outline in mind at best.

If he already had determined that Luke and Leia were brother and sister when she tongue raped him in TESB that would him a guy with interesting tendencies.

Just wait until the surprise reveal in the extended universe books...

Han isn't the father of Leia's children.... awkward.... D:

Eh, it would have been interesting because if Obi-Wan had killed Luke's father, you can see then Luke teaming up with Vader-friend and further obliterating the mystical jedi.

This topic reminds me...I hate it when people say that George Lucas ruined Star Wars. I'm sure that lots of the people complaining about it would like turn Star Wars into Metal Gear Solid 4 if they could.

no he didn't write all 3 before filming. Star wars was only to be a single movie but then was changed.

I recall some 1977-78 interview where he has said he had like 12 books/movies in mind. Of course I could be wrong as I was only 12-13 at the time.

He actually had episodes 1-6 written down and knew how he wanted to play them out.

He started at 4 as he felt that would be a better starting point as it was almost stand alone in its plot. Then once it was popular he shot out 5 and 6 so people can see how it all ended.

Then sometime later he was convinced to release 1-3.

Darth Vader is Luke Skywalker's father? Thanks for spoiling the ending, movie ruiner!
