What if I have no product key?

I just installed an Windows from an old Windows 98 CD I had. I got it off of my old Tiger computer. It ask for the product key but I don't have one. Is there a way around this or something? I doubt I will be able to find the paper with the key on it. :( Please Help:(:(

do you have another computer there with win98 installed? win98 lists the product key in the registry, so you can get it from there. search for productkey.

start>run>
type in regedit to get to the regestry editor. In the edit menu select find and off you go!

Is the product key the thing below where is says registered to: and my name under system properties?

thats alot of computational power you have there, for someone that dosent know where the registry is

Go to start/run/ and enter regedit

Then look here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / Software / Microsoft / Windows / Current Version

no i think that is different in system properties. to find the key, click start, go to run, type regedit into the box, click ok. in the regedit window, click on the edit menu, click find, type in productkey, click ok. the key should look like this: XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX. if it finds something that does not look like that, hit your F3 key to continue searching until it finds the product key.
