I was saying, all through the 2016 election process, that there was a quiet, but angry electorate, that was going to step up and defeat Hillary Clinton. That came to pass.
Yes, and small. Had the pre-election polls not been so favorable to Hillary, there would have been a lot more Dems/Leftys voting. Easier voting (by mail/internet - already available in some places/elections/age groups/disabled, or making voting compulsory like taxes and Australia), would also help the aging haters (who watch FoxNews all day and have plenty of time to vote) not be such a big voting block (like my aunt in the Bible Belt, "The war on Christmas! The war on Christmas!")
I'm also predicting that there is a quiet, but angry voting block that is going to defeat some people in California in the November 2018 elections. The biggest one will be getting a Republican governor. You can thank Jerry "moonbeam" Brown for that one, folks.
Huge taxes
High homelessness
Stance on illegals
Sanctuary cities
Irresponsible spending (the over budget, high speed train project)
And those taxes helped hugely with a lot of stuff. "Give me better roads, but I aint f-ing paying for them!"
Much of what California is cursed with is because of what she's graced with; amazing weather, no snow unless you want it, no hurricanes, but much more occasional earthquakes, and very localized flooding/fires. Building among tinder and keeping the power on in high winds are killers.
It's much easier to be homeless in California, not just because of the weather or just because she's such a large state, but also because gentrification is making it unaffordable for so many.
Sanctuaries come from empathy and compassion. With all the jobs we happily want a perceived sub-class to do, there are two signs at the border; "Help Wanted" and "Get Out!"
Yeah, the high speed train. It will cut almost no time from the trip to SF from LA counting getting to the station, parking...and the slowness of that rail through metropolitan areas. It will pollute less if people use it, so that makes it worth it IMO.
The angry will step up and it should be a blow out. People don't want San FranFeces or any other shit cities with crap, garbage and drug needles everywhere.
So you've been there.
