What (if anything) could the U.S. learn from Europe for its benefit, and vice versa?

I think we saw their version of that in the French Revolution, WWI, the Russian revolution, Stalins purges, WWII, and Serbia-Croatia and decided it was not all it was cracked up to be. ;)

Same for our Civil War, extermination of the Native Americans, Red Scare, civil rights violations, atomic bomb, etc?

the european states - at least some of them - may have reminded bush, rumsfeld, et al the virtue of patience and agreement and
honoring your committments to your allies.

if the bush and gang believed we were alone in wanting to annihilate saddam and then recruit the european states for support in
rebuidling iraq's shattered economic infrastructure and democratic institutions, they were foolish in their arrogance and stupid for
even thinking so.

Well, we could learn to grovel and whine. Oh, and maybe they could show us how to be spiteful, envious, petty and small at the same time.

The U.S. could use some help in these areas and I can't think of anyone better prepared to help us.

Agreed. You left one thing out, though. We need to learn how to drop our trousers, bend over and take it with a smile on our face. When we can do that we will be just like the Europeans.

The EU needs to build a military force capable of taking care of its side of the world. Maybe the US can sell them the blueprints to our current carriers as we are about to start building the next generation carriers:).

Now, that was a nasty, underhanded slap to all those nice European countries who just want to get along with everyone. If it wasn't for the U.S. the world would be a much nicer place to live. Milosevik was just trying to make more room for his people to be comfortable in.
