What I wouldn't give or what I would give..

Which one is correct? I've always heard it the first way, but the second one makes more sense..since you're saying if something is important/worthwhile to you, you're wondering what you'd give up for it, like a wife or child.

I believe it is what I wouldnt give. The statment implies you are having a hard time thinking of what you woould give uo, beacuse the item in question is soo valuable. there is plenty you would give up ( a nickel, a shin kick, etc.)

I think it's "What I wouldn't give" because I think the statement implies that "what you wouldn't give" is a very short list i.e. What I wouldn't give to have sex with Adriana Lima (is a very short list/nothing) aka I would sell my soul to sleep with her.
