Well it's dead now, somewhere between the freezer and taking off the heatspreaders, but I have an unusual piece of HyperX PC3000 RAM, has 2 CH-5 chips on it, rest are BH-5. It overclocked like crap t though, 195mhz max.

I can't, the writing is so damn small and it's virtually written in black, my camera can't focus, or my hand can't make it focus. It's like 6 BH-5 chips, then 2 CH-5, on each side.

Does the cam have a macro mode? Try max zoom at a longer distance. Most cameras can't focus too well closer than about 1~3ft. Also try shooting a bit off-angle. I couldn't get the serials on my Radeon 9700's core and memory straight on, but a little off angle and the serials show up nicely. Also try diffusing the flash with a white piece of paper in front of the light.

BTW sad to hear of your mem's demise :( Strange that they didn't OC too well, what kind of voltages and timings were you running through 'em and with which mobo?

edit- I agree about the mix of B's and C's. ... WTH? That might be why some Hyper-X PC3000 I've heard of don't overclock up to the chip's reputations.

Hmmmm....Kingston must have had some problems with that stuff. ....They don't even mention PC3000 HyperX on their website... (they skip right around it - 2700 to 3200).

This stuff was about a year old. I had it in my A7N8X at 2.8v, or with the uber bios apparently at 2.9v, but couldn't get past 195mhz stable at stock timings. And no, it wasn't the mobo, as I currently own 2x256 BH-5s that do 205 stable on it...or did, as I'm installing a DFI mobo as we speak (typing on my secondary machine).

Yeah I tried to shoot the pictures and zoom in at close range, I'll try it differently later. I don't know why the hell it died, but I don't really care too much as performance was mediocre. The funny thing is if the poor performance is due to having BH-5 and CH-5 modules on the same stick, doesn't this bode ill for mixing BH-5 and CH-5 period?

This is why I'm trying to get rid of my BH-5, since I want 1GB of RAM and there's no way to get 512 BH-5 or anything that'll do near 250 FSB at 11-2-2 CAS 2/1T, and the only shot I had was to pick up some 512mb stick of CH-5, but looks like that is a no go, so might as well just say the hell with it all.

well, if you try to beg some of our fellow Anandtech members who are still holding on to their BH-5 Mushkin 3500 Level 2,
you'd be able to run 2-2-2-11 without any problems

Yeah, but I'm not going to pay the massive premium for a ridiculous 2% performance increase with a few more mhz...it just doesn't make sense.
