I'm wondering on overclockability. Basically, I'm looking at getting an XP 1600+ and I'm looking to oc it to say 1.6-1.7GHz speeds with a 1.85 vcore, any comments??? Thanx!! Oh and while you're at it, could someone recommend a good HSF for ocing a 1600+ that's decentley priced (like $10-$20), hows the Volcano 6cu+??? Thanks again

From what I've seen, Athlon retail boxed CPUs 1800+ and less use a heatsink that looks like a Volcano II and a 10x60mm fan of medium speed. The 1900+ retail HSF that I've seen uses a blue colored 10x60mm fan that is really high RPM and the heatsink lookes like a thin-fin skivved unit. Both heatsinks are all aluminum. If you don't want to spend over $20 and want to overclock that much, first buy some ear plugs. Most of the cheap HSFs that perform decent use really high RPM fans. You can find some cheap copper ones at SVC among other places. The Volcano 6+ you mention is also decent for being so cheap. Another consideration is the Volcano 7, which can be had for a hair under your limit if you shop around. The Volcano 7 can be modded to be high RPM all the time, or left to it's own devices will change RPMs depending on your case (not CPU) temperature. I think most folk are disappointed (or upset) at the performance (or lack thereof) of ThermalTake Volcano series HSFs, but I feel that they are decent performers for the low cost.
