Before putting out the big buxs I would try OCing your rig with what you have. Maybe your chip will only do the dance at 800-850, still a good overclock. If heat isn't a problem I wouldn't spend the $$s till I knew that I a had a chip with a chance.

My duron600 does 1081 (rock solid) and 1102 (flaky) with an Alpha PEP66 (with the little legs cut off)

My retail Duron 600 (from Onvia) does 997 rock-solid with my FOP38....thing's loud as hell but you get results.

Has anybody tried the Chrome Orb? I got one of those but it will not fit on my Abit KT7 without cutting a notch to clear the capacitors.
Anyone else got a KT7 can tell me what HSF they are using and if it fits without mods.

My duron 600 does just fine @ 1000 and 1008 with the FOP32, I can run all sorts of programs/benchmarks, though prime95 doesn't run. Try with the FOP38, you could most likely get 1g, unless you get a dud.

I also have the FOP32-1, but the clip that came with it that clips down on to the socket was REALLY tight and after hearing so many horror stories about ppls durons turning into keychains i opted to use an older clip from a the Global Win FDP series for the celerys. With the old one on, it fit just fine, snug fit but not so tight where u thought the chip my snap in half. I think its because the old clips had a flat area on the clip where it flat against the heatsink...the new clips seem to be shaped like a "v" which makes it really hard to get each end of the "v" on the hooks (i know these are mental pics I making" Anyhow, I am getting around 44 C with the FOP32-1 with some cheapo silicone paste...

I'm running my 600 at 900MHz stable with an Alpha PAL6035 w/4500RPM fan. I tried a FOP38 (6800RPM fan), but as Krish mentioned, it's LOUD! Also, I think I needed to smooth the surface some, as I couldn't run stable at 900MHz anymore with the FOP38. I'm back to using my Alpha for now...

FOP38 (or maybe FOP32) is a bit cheaper than the Alphas, so something to consider if your short on cash and don't mind the noise.

Thanks for the replies. I'm gonna try one of the Taisol CEK733092 for $14 shipped from another Thread
If that doesnt work I'll probably try a FOP or Pal if I can find in stock for a good price.

Thanks again for your help.

If you take your sweetie out to MickyD's don't expect to get as far (or lucky) as you could have had you taken her out to a nice expensive restaurant.
