A 3 bedroom 2 bath Mobile home with a 2 car garage and storage shed with a LARGE nice backyard with-in walking distance to work.

Or a regular 4 bedroom 1 bath 2 story house for less money 20 miles from work.

a mobile home isn't the worst choice in the world for a "starter" home.

The obvious choice is the 4 bedroom as it will we worth a lot more in the future. Add in that it's less money and it sounds like a slam dunk. Plus 20 miles is a nice bike ride into work every day.

pics?

Real House.

I cant see a mobile home appreciating like a real house. Also, you're very limited as to what you can do to improve your dwelling in a mobile home. With a real house, you can add that 2nd bath or 2 car garage after the fact.

People can give their opinions all day, but in the end it comes down to what works better for you. Is the garage, large yard and distance from work enough to outweigh the benifits of a stationary house? We can't tell you that.

I haven't gone and checked out the 2 story house yet, so I don't know much about it. I do know it's zoned commercial / residential. But I don't know if there is a garage or storage, or even if there is room to build / add on any other amenities.

I may go take a drive this afternoon and check it out closer.

My other thoughts on the mobile home are, since the yard is BIG, I could build an apartment off of the garage and live in it while renting out the mobile home. I will have to check the zoning laws about this though. All the houses in the area are mobile homes....

Choice "C"...wait a bit for something to open up that I don't feel like I'm compromising on.

I don't know what the housing market is like in Oregon at this time of year, but here in the midwest it's dysmal. Give it two months and things will pick up and more will be available.

You live Eugene. BAH!

Houses are cheap. Buy a real one! 20-miles from work? Where you moving to Junction City? Cottage Grove? These places are hell-holes where you do not want to have your kids growing up.

Get a nice dump of a house for $135K in the River Road N. Euegene area of Move to Thurston in Springfield. If your looking at Mobiles I take it anything on Coburg Rd. is out of your price range. Coburg Rd. or South Eugene are my picks.

So freakin glad I moved out of that community.......................................

Housing here is expensive and it just keeps going up.

There is another possibility. A house closer to work but not AS close, that is a REAL house. Cheaper then the Mobile, but more than the house 20 miles away.

(I'm just really getting started with the hunt. I already LIVE in the Mobile home, and it IS for sale. That's why I'm considering it as a option.)

Harrisburg is where the 2 story is.

The Mobile is off of the end of Delta Hwy.
BTW: Kids aren't a factor. Having GOOD FAST internet is thought! ;) As is storage and a garage.

go with the real house, in the long run if you do a little work to it, you will see an increase in its value.

No, no wheels. And it is on a foundation.

What does the wife say?

I'd much rather have a house that my sig likes over dealing with living everyday hearing complaints about the one she didn't want to live in.

No wife, no kids. Just the dog, and he'll go along with whatever I decide.

Wheels CAN be removed you know. And sitting a mobile on a foundation is not uncommon.
