What horrible driving! Does this happen anywhere else?

I was visiting a friend of mine up in Pennsylvania. While driving to a mall we had to merge onto a freeway. At the end of the on-ramp some person had simply stopped to wait to merge....traffic wasn't even busy! We encountered this at least 3 more times that day. When I asked my friend about this she said people do that all the time. Are you kidding me or are you people in Pennsylvania just the worst drivers evar?! (this merging incident isn't the only reason to come to that conclusion)

Drivers in PA are the worst in the world.
What did you expect.

These are the people that completely stop at the EZ pass line. They're the one that creates those huge lines.

Well was the merging lane ending and no one letting the other driver through?

If that was the case, he or she had to stop.

Considering the majority of the people here think the speed limit becomes a sugguestion once you get into the passing lane, this probably isn't a great place to complain about bad drivers. 😉

The speed limit is only a suggestion no matter what lane you're in 😉

That statement presumes that speeding = bad driver. Flame fest!

haha

what takes the pickle are these assholes that don't even use the merging lane and just come into the right lane of the highway doing 20mph without stepping on the pedal to go faster.

Virginia drivers are the worst, they don't know the meaning of the word merge.

What bothers me is those who know they should merge (giganto sign says so), but they stay in the other lane just so they can get in front of everybody else and merge at the head of the pack.

In some parts of the country this is considered normal, my g/f does it (she's from PA).

In Oregon that would be a damn good way to get your ass rear-ended.

So why so much of that in PA? Was there some old driving law that required people to do that, and is no longer in effect, but people are still used to that?

I believe there are on-ramps in Pittsburgh that actually have stopsigns at the end. :Q

In Ohio nobody ever stops on an on-ramp, and I'm gonna pass them if they do. No way my '88 Corolla could get up to highway speeds in a hundred feet.

should have seen this woman today driving down the street.. it's snowy or whatever.. but the roads aren't slippery, they've been cleared.. i am driving a long at 50 or 60 or whatever (km/h) and i see i am coming up fast on this buick... i hit the brakes fairly hard.. we are going FIRST GEAR speed... i mean LOW RPM in first gear! and there is a green light ahead...

like.. what the HELL.... she trying to cause a pile up? so i just passed her at like 30 km/h and went through the green...the rest of the people behind me got held up by this dumbass... i'd have been pissed if i were them! (it was rush hour in the morning)

seriously..... she must have been going 10 km/h.. it was ridiculous.......

Don't even get me started on Pennsylvanians and their awful driving abilities.

They stop at yield signs, and they roll through stops signs.
They cruise on the left, they pass on the right.
They rarely, if ever, use turn signals. Going to parallel park? Just stomp the brake and start backing up.
They think 5 feet is a safe following distance.....at any speed.

I could go on for hours. Living in this area plays havoc with my blood pressure.

If anyone is familiar with the Conshohocken area, did you ever notice that at the foot of the Matson Ford Bridge coming from Fayette Street towards Matson Ford Road, when you make a right onto Westbound 23, there is a stop sign when it should be a yield?

I swear it's because PennDOT knows that if they had put a yield, too many people would stop and get rear-ended.

Instead there's a stop sign, so Jersey-Jzero is the one who almost gets rear-ended.

wtf?!

my friend failed her driving test because she didn't acclerate to 95 before she merged.
(she was at 85+ and acclerating when she got into the next lane)

Ahh... the driver I was stuck behind merging onto the freeway last night. Almost killed me when she jumped in front of the city bus at 20 mph, forcing it to lock up its brakes... :disgust:

No. Traffic was light. It was like standard practice to these people to stop as if it were a stop sign and look both ways....I couldn't believe it.

Another thing I noticed alot up there was that PA drivers will *just* decide to change lanes, without looking or warning....right into the side of your car....even if they're perfectly beside you.

Dont come to TN any time soon. I swear somewhere on the drivers test it must say that the speed limit is what ever is posted minus 10mph. Oh, and most people here must think that you have to come to a complete stop to make a turn of the HWY. Somedays I just want to give up driving.
