I'm a runner but am having recurring problems with my achilles tendon.

What home equipment should I get for my cardio workouts?

I used to run but had too many probs with knees and hip joints. So I got a recumbent stationary bike. Now I peddle my arse off and have really grown to like it. I also use ankle weights and thigh weights sometimes to really beat the crap out of my self..great sweaty workout....

If you don't have anything constructive or conducive to ANYTHING that resembles something that might help this 'joe' out, then please keep retarded comments to yourself.

Winsor Pilates are low impact exercises. And its cheap. And Daisy Fuentes endorses it.

Hmm... Let's see here... The person asks for a recommendation for *cardio equipment* and you reply "Pilates" because "Daisy Fuentes is hot". Now, if that's not a retarded comment I don't know what is. Just for your information wise guy, Pilates is not "equipment" nor is the exercise itself cardiovascular.

Yeah the point is... its CHEAP. And perhaps you can get a cardio exercise...

I've found that buying exercise equipment seems to be a big waste of money. Therefore, my reason to suggest something which doesn't involve hundreds, if not, thousands of dollars. Now, your comment has NOTHING to do with the subject at hand so, I must stress, that your comment is the "retarded" one.

Bleeb - the poster said he was a runner looking for an alternative to cardio while he recuperates from an achilles tendon injury. Although Pilates can be a rejuvenating experience, both physically and mentally; So can Tai Chi; So can Yoga; So can lying in a whirlpool or sauna. But Pilates does not qualify as "exercise" according to its strict definition. It's certainly not going to help with his cardiovascular conditioning. Pilates is great for improving overall flexability, but for overall conditioning, it fails miserably. By the way, I laugh my a$$ off everytime I watch the Pilates infomercial and hear their claims of how Pilates can lengthen muscles. An impossibility!!! What a crock!

The gym at work is close to home and dirt cheap, but I have small kids and it's hard to find time.

Darn achilles tendon!

I can run on it, but it's sore and I'm worried about making it worse.

Anyone have any experience with achilles tendon injuries?

Have you tried walking briskly, on an incline, to see if that causes problems with your achilles tendon?
