What helps you to know others exist

My question is this: what helps you to know other people have feelings? That people exist and your are not the only one that matters?

I am not sure I know; but every now and then helping someone does give me that warm fuzzy feeling.

Well, I operate pretty much based on my system of ethics, and I'd say that that system assumes that people exist and that I'm not the only one that matters. I suppose I make that assumption because... well, people obviously do exist...
