Im looking to get a new heatsink and Im asking for suggestions. I was seriouslly considering that one with the built in heatpipe from coolermaster. I dont want to spend more than $40(before shipping). I was also looking at the Alpha. I already have a delta fan for it, so just need the heatsink. Any thoughts on the heatsink or where to buy it?
thanks,

Thermalright AX-7($29) and 80mm Antec Stealth fan, that'll run about 40 bucks on the dime and you can dump that horribly LOUD delta.

Go to 2cooltek.com for the combo

With that Alpha you'll need to remove your mobo to install it. But it is among the best as is the easier to install AX-7. It secures to the mobo with a 3-prong clip. Both need a 80mm fan.

The heatpipe cooler is excellent as are others like the Cak II and V7+. You can usually get similar cooling or better with the Alpha 8045 or AX-7 using a quiet fan while the others require a lawnmower loud fan to get the best cooling they are capable of.

Good places to purchase heatsinks from are KDC, HighspeedPC, CrazyPC and SVC. Those places are all well ran and dependable and don't overcharge with shipping as many do.

OK, stupid question from a newb...

How do you install the fan onto the AX-7? I was considering getting this HS for my new rig, but I have always purchased HS/fan combos
before. Is it self evident or do I need to order certain fans or hardware.? Thanks in advance. 🙂

the fan comes with screws to mount the fan you choose. The screws screw in between the fins. It doesnt really have a set "hole" or anything to screw into. You won't need any extra hardware

Ok, thanks. I was looking at the picture on newegg and was looking for 'screw holes'. Just between the fins huh, very clever. Thanks again!
