What have you gotten out of being a part of the AT community?

A lot of my friends are always like "I can't believe you spend so much time on AT" blah blah blah, but really, I think I've gained a lot out of posting on AT. AT really is such a cool place. Some things I have gotten as a result of AT:

1. 4 free tickets to a weezer concert
2. 2 Radiohead CDs
3. A weezer shirt
4. Free hosting for my webpage for about half a year
5. Countless hot deals, including my current web hosting(3-95.com), a $30 24x cdrw, $15 scanner, stuff for my digital cam, ETC.
6. Tons of cool friends!
7. A free lunch
8. a $20 GC to amazon

anyways, i love ATOT. and i can't believe some of the people on here are so nice. sure there are a few that ruin it, but the majority more than makes up for it.

well i'm bored at work, so this is my nef of the day.

as for me? i've taken about 5700 posts. just a couple freebies and maybe one or two hot deals.

I've gained nothing material but some things immaterial.

The first gain that occurs to me is one of the penpals I've made from AT. Ever encouraging, ever accepting, ever prodding me to grow, and I have. Through the eyes of many here, but especially through his eyes, I've had the chance to see the world in different ways. Isn't that one of the points to getting to know people, whether over the net or in real life, getting to see things the way they see them? That's something I've gained here.

During my first quarter at college, y'know, the quarter you don't know anyone, have nothing to do (especially when you don't live in the dorms), etc, I was diagnosed with arthritis and I could barely walk, couldn't leave my apartment. Then, AT was a nice boredom reliever. I spent time here, getting acquainted with the meaning of nef, that I otherwise might have spent delving into self-pity. I decided to avoid that, and AT was a handy tool. Life's a lot better now, and I have friends and mobility back, and still enjoy using AT as a tool for procrastination.

I work nights and weekends, so AT gives me a chance to relieve boredom, talk about the weirdest subjects at times, and keep abreast of the latest in pc tech. Plus, once in a while I like to help people out in the Networking forum..

i was thinking about posting a thread earlier today to thank AT for everything that ive learned from here... soo.. ill just post it in this thread...I joined AT about a year ago because i wanted to know how to install winME on my comptuer cause i hated win2k... n00b.. hehe... now ive been building computers, designing webpages, upgrading pcs, setting up LANs in people's homes, becoming the tech support guy for ALL of my friends (i go to georgia tech btw, lotta comp nerds there), and making dumb jokes... why? all cause of everything ive learned from AT.. all the helpful people, the intelligent people, the hot deal finders, the programming geniuses, the hardware freaks, the OS fanatics, the networking pros, and the sarcastic comedians have all helped me enjoy the past year here at AT.... so, thanks AT.... now i know that win2k is much much better than winME....
oh yes, and lets not forget all the hot deals that ive gotten in on.. countless hot deals, that i buy for my friends and they just cant believe how cheap i can get parts for them... thanks AT...
