powering it is a waste of power:p so dont even suggest using it as a seti machine or whatever. its a keychain.

Heh... I gave mine away (like 3-4 years ago) to a friend of mine to give to his young son. Still has the Voodoo2 in it, I taught him to play Tribes1. :)

my P-Pro 200 Mhz, 64MB, runs Redhat Linux.
although, I rarely turn it on lately.

even my P3-500 seems like a complete dog compared to my P4-2.53.
I use the 500 for newsgroup downloading.

I used my 200 mhz machine with a parallel port relay interface I made for physics to power devices from my keyboard. Ultimate in laziness... just type a couple of commands and start the fan going, lights, TV, etc. That way I didn't have to get up to plug them in.

My 233MMX is running my Red Hat Linux firewall.

My P3 450MHz is running Windows NT server for my domain.

And my 1.3 GHz Thunderbird is my wife's internet browsing machine

The best use for it is to set it up with Windows 98, Office, and some internet apps, and give it to a friend who needs it for homework or something.

I agree that using it for DC is a waste of electricity. (Except when it's already on. Then it can't hurt. :) )

I have a P150 laptop that I use solely to run Trillian. It's pretty slow, but good enough. Very handy to be able to chat while I'm gaming on my main machine without having to Alt-Tab.

I even run Seti on it. Figure why not if it's already on anyways. 2.5 day wu times. :p

Put together a 166 system a year or so ago for the in-laws. My bro got a 233/64MB laptop cheap so I installed winME and Office for him (good thing I keep old versions of software).

I have some components to make a 350 machine, IIRC, which I will give to a poor kid who has no computer.

i upgraded my 166 to an athlon 450, then gave it to my mom. now she has a brand new gateway (shudder... they didn't ask me before buying it) and the 450 is going to my grandfather.

i have a p3 667 running my data storage unit for my 1.1mhz desktop and the wife's 2.4ghz laptop.

i don't need no stinkin' firewall.
