So after my Xbox 360 died I haven't been playing many games. I was busy with college and most of my "gaming time" was consumed by Civ 4. Now I have some more time and I want to play the best of what I've missed over the past few years. I like all genres except sports. I was playing ME1/2 last week and I loved it. I'm playing Mafia 2 now and it's quite fun.

I've played the following recent(ish) games:

Bioshock (360)
Halo3 (360)
GOW (360)
Raibow Six Vegas (360)
Far Cry (PC)
ME 1/2 (PC)
Dragon Age (Put in 20+ hrs but I stopped playing because of exams and I've forgotten the story and can't get into it again)
Warhmamer 40K (only MP)
Starcraft 2 (only MP)
CnC Generals (only MP)
COH
Portal
HL2
Civ 5 (disappointing)
Cities XL2011 (bad)

Any ideas?
I never finished HL2 and I'm thinking of playing it over. I'm also thinking of playing the following:

Dead Space (I have played it but I've not been in the mood for scary stuff recently :p )
Just Cause 2
Batman Arkham Asylum
F.E.A.R (old but any good?)
Fallout 3/vegas/Oblivion (which is better?)
Assassin's creed 2
KoToR (I loved ME1/2 so I'll have to check these two out as well)
BF: BC2 (any good? I have it somewhere)
Medieval: Total War
Crysis (bought it off the Steam sale)
Witcher

Any others that I've missed? Which should I play first?

You mention playing 'Warhammer 40k', do you mean Dawn of War 1 or Dawn of War 2? (or both?) I'd strongly suggest playing both. DoW 1 has a huge mod community and DoW 2 is a very popular multiplayer game with a great survival-type multiplayer mode called The Last Stand. DoW 2 singleplayer is a good mix of solid RTS gaming with RPG-lite touches.

King's Bounty (The Legend, Armoured Princess, Crossworlds - If you were ever a fan of HoMM, this collection is simply amazing. I enjoyed this miles more than HoMM3 or HoMM5.

From the games you suggested, I would play Crysis first. It is an enjoyable FPS game which has a better story than most FPS games that have came out over the past 5 years and it is still probably the best looking FPS to date. I will get shot down for saying this but it's a solid FPS which I enjoyed from start to finish. It is not 'purely a tech demo' as it has been slated in the past.

Definitely Crysis and/or Crysis Warhead.

I love the singleplayer campaign of COD4 and MW2. And probably BO too but it crashes for me. Likewise, the multiplayer in all three of them is awesome.

Maybe check out Minecraft too. A very unique game but can be addicting and is only a beta so lots of things should come with it.

I don't have Just Cause 2 but played it at a friends house and it was pretty awesome.

Just Cause 2
Batman Arkham Asylum

I have heard these are fantastic single player games. I own them due to Steam sales, but haven't installed them yet, because I just keep playing BF: BC2. :)
People seem to like that, too. Set some time aside to download the latest patch.

I'll be playing most FPS games SP. I'm from Pakistan and they don't have too many servers except for CS, CSS, COD4 and TF2. I used to be a CS addict once and I've played CSS but how are the other two for MP? I get 150+ pings to Europe so FPS doesn't work too well. RTS works well enough.

Kings Bounty looks fun and so does DOW2. I'll have a look at those.

Replaying HL2 wouldn't be a bad idea. It's a classic. I just re-installed it the other day and might replay it after I play ME1 and 2.

I just started Mass Effect and it's definitely a classic up there w\ HL2.

Left 4 Dead
Left 4 Dead 2
Borderlands
Black Ops
Metro2033
Crysis
STALKER - Shadow of Chernobyl

Those should keep you busy for a little while

Off your list, Batman Arkham Asylum and KotOR 1 are must-play games. KotOR is going to show it's age, but the story and gameplay will make up for it. KotOR 2 was ok, but I couldn't get into it as much.

Not a fan of Zombies. And I tried playing STALKER once but I get motion sickness from it. :s

Keep an eye out for Borderlands to go on sale. Game of the year edition is $29, regular edition with the add-ons is $19. Borderlands is more then just a game, its a whole other world. Single player is ok. If you have soomeone to play multiplayer with, the game gets a lot better.

I picked Crysis up on a steam sale the other day, played about 30 minutes, and it looks pretty good. Some people think its one of the best games ever made. But I have not played enough of it to form an honest opinion.

Metro2033 seems like a good game, reminds me of half-life, but a lot darker. The controls seem jerky, and that in itself is a turn off.

Fortress Forever - its a free team fortress modification for the Source engine. If you have a Valve game like left 4 dead, left 4 dead 2, portal, counter-strike:source,,,, you can download and play Fortress Forever for free. FF is a good fast paced game.

FEAR is good and worth playing, addons/sequel probably not so much.
Painkiller is about the same age but a good bit of fun. You can get it at GoG.

They revamped Serious Sam with improved textures and models. Gameplay is exactly the same. So if you loved the original you will perhaps find new life with the remake. Proper sequel is still only a rumor.

I'm really liking Fallout 3. For some reason it holds my interest way better than Oblivion. I think it's because they fixed much of Oblivion's retarded leveling system, and the NPC dialogue is way more interesting, same with the environment and weapons and gameplay.

At times, playing Fallout makes me want to play Oblivion, but then I remember that it's boring, even heavily modded.

I think it may have more to do with the sex and guns and drugs.

Painkiller is pretty much Doom and Serious Sam wrapped in one. I recommend playing it before Serious Sam HD and doubly so for someone who has already played the original Serious Sam.

I like something with a decent story and memorable characters... shoot'em ups get boring after a while.

Not that it has a great story, but you should play Starcraft 2 single player. The missions are very amusing and varied. Best RTS single player I have played after Starcraft the first (which surpassed SC2 in the story department).

I never finished HL2 and I'm thinking of playing it over. I'm also thinking of playing the following:

Dead Space (I have played it but I've not been in the mood for scary stuff recently :p )
Just Cause 2 Fun, fun open world game. There's so much to entertain yourself with. That said, it will get old after a while
Batman Arkham Asylum My surprise favorite. I'm not even that big of a Batman fan, but this game is simply awesome. It's kinda a metroidvania style game where you start off weak and progressively find better and better upgrades.
F.E.A.R (old but any good?) Tried it recently, and it didn't age well, IMO
Fallout 3/vegas/Oblivion (which is better?) Fallout 3 is good, but notoriously buggy. New Vegas is even better, and I haven't encountered many crashes with it. I would definitely try out New Vegas at some point, if I were you.
Assassin's creed 2
KoToR (I loved ME1/2 so I'll have to check these two out as well) KoToR's battle system is closer to the style of Dragon Age than Mass Effect. So just a warning, if that's a deal breaker for you.
BF: BC2 (any good? I have it somewhere) It's an excellent MP shooter with a good community. Single player is OK, but that's about it.
Medieval: Total War
Crysis (bought it off the Steam sale) Awesome graphics, decent gameplay, crappy story. A lot of people love it, you might too.
Witcher

Any others that I've missed? Which should I play first?

My comments above. Out of those listed, I would recommend getting and playing Arkham Asylum first.

I'm digging King's Bounty. got them all for 14 bucks during Steam sale, which is totally worth it.

Great sense of humor.
