An african american guy just came over to my office, and he was doing some work for one of the engineers and me. And I was standing behind him, watching what he was doing, and I out of no where I started singing under my breath, but loud enough to be heard, "Da da da da da, Crack that whip...da da da da da."
He turned around and looked at me like I was the devil. It was the last song I heard this morning, and it just popped into my head. I just realized he might have taken it as a racist comment. I dunno. Would you?
 
i'd be looking out for the HR person to fire your ass (and ritely so, who the heck sings songs like that while looking over ANYONE)...you sir are an idiot

freakin lighten up. he wasn't doing it maliciously. he had no ill intent at all.
i would've just said sorry to the African American guy and that it was the last song i had heard and it was stuck in my head and that i meant nothing by it.

 
now you have to invite him for dinner. and then find another black person to pretend to be your best friend to show up.

I was thinking the same thing about you. Getting fired over that? I hope you have no control of enployment wherever you work. I mean, its people like you who are bringing down the workplace. You can't do or say anything anymore because it might have "possibly" offended someone. Who the hell cares? Its a devo song, thats it, no underlying agenda here.
