What Has Mr Obama Done AS POTUS

I keep hearing and reading that Mr Obama has not done anything since he has been POTUS. So I have started doing research to see if this statement is true.

http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/9121355/hes_had_three_years_what_has_president.html?cat=9

What has President Obama done for us during the past three years?

My Republican friends say he has just been playing golf but the record does not support this rhetoric. In fact, the Democrat-controlled 111th US Congress was one of the most productive in modern American history.

In that short period of time:

President Obama tackled Wall Street reform which politicians have been trying to do for 60 years. He pushed for and signed the Affordable Care Act into law. He signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 which saved our economy from the brink of destruction and pumped 100 billion into the national infrastructure. It contained billions for science and tech research including renewable energy.

President Obama funded an experimental energy research agency Bush created, which like Bush's Medicare Part D prescription drug plan, he never actually paid for. This President gave a giant investment to NASA and the National Science Foundation. He expanded state health insurance for children and signed the Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay act. He negotiated and signed a nuclear arms deal with Russia to reduce both countries arsenals by a third and pushed for a global nonproliferation treaty. This President ordered the incursions that led to thedeath of Osama bin Laden and Anwar al-Awlaki. He's also dismantled al Qaeda and partnered with NATO to put Ghadaffi into the history books. President Obama has accomplished more in foreign policy in 3 years than Bush did in 8 without starting any wars.

What else? The Hate Crimes Protection Act that's been stuck in Congress for years? Passed. Food and Drug regulation of Big Tobacco? Passed. And now, following the Deepwater Horizon disaster, he's reworking the MMS and increasing oversight of our energy policy. President Obama pushed an overhaul of the Student Loan program and cancelled the F22 program which was irrelevant to both wars we're fighting. He's ended "Don't Ask Don't Tell," stopped defending DOMA and will probably get to energy reform before his first term is up. And now he's removing US troops from Iraq and accelerating a troop drawdown in Afghanistan.

This Administration has accomplished all of this despite relentless partisan bickering so severe it led to a downgrade in our credit rating (thank you Tea Party,) and despite inheriting an economy so damaged by Bush that it was on the verge of collapse. Whether you agree with him or not, President Obama has shown us that when he isn't dealing with Republicans who have "making the President fail" as their primary goal he can deliver many of his campaign promises.

In 2012 the American people have a difficult decision to make, but they have a right to know what this President has done. And President Obama has done quite a bit.

We constantly complained about the Obama administration and what President Barack Obama has not done for us.

An anonymous author decides to put a stop to the complaints and want us to appreciate all the work that have been accomplished. Therefore the author created a list of what President Obama has done so far in the short amount of time.

Here’s what the anonymous author wrote:

About 3/4 of the alleged acts he didnt actually do. And of the rest I dont really think they were good.
BUT, he is keeping active despite having a congress that fights him. Thats pretty impressive if you think about it.

I really dont want him to get a 2nd term, but if he loses everyone will cry racism and he wasnt given a chance and all kinds of other bullshit.
If he does get reelected I am hoping he fucks up bad like Bush and people will finally realize how foolish they were to ever put him in office.

He has done a lot of good in a short period of time, despite not having the conviction many think he should have had in areas like the public option for healthcare and tax increases during the debt ceiling showdown. But he'll get all those tax increases with the super congress.

Really? Obama is closer to St. Reagan than Bush Sr and Jr ever were......

Now if President Obama didn't have that pesky (D) and if it were an (R) so many of his Tea Bag critics would be his biggest supporters...

\and that's the biggest joke of all...

they'd probably be happy as a clam if he just did nothing but played golf and vetoed every bill passed by Congress.

He hasn't been given anything by Congress to Veto.
how can that be true when Obama:

Personally I'm not sure (some) Republicans/conservatives need (or have) any reason to hate Obama beyond the party he belongs to. Many of them complained when he had Osama bin Laden killed, for crying out loud. Any thought I had that real issues are the driving factor behind some conservatives opinion of President Obama pretty much vanished with that event.

Not that the other side is much better when it comes to Republicans in power. Actual things the person in question did or did not do seem far less important than really generic ranting. "Bush is a Nazi, Obama is a socialist" might as well be shorthand for "Please for the love of God don't listen to what I'm saying, I have no earthly idea what I'm talking about. But boy am I loud about it!"

Nice spin. It's still down from where it was 1 year before Bush left office.

Unemployment was 7.7% when Obama took office and it is still over 9% with it going over 10% for a while
National debt was $10.6 Trillion when Obama took office, it is now $14.988 Trillion

Unemployment was 7.7% when Obama took office and it is still over 9% with it going over 10% for a while
National debt was $10.6 Trillion when Obama took office, it is now $14.988 Trillion

Quite selective in your reasoning aren't ya? Unemployment was rising at massive levels as Obama took office. What it was going to just suddenly stop January 20 when he was sworn in? Lagging indicator usually 2-3 quarters behind the economy.

Next you'll tell us what the average unemployment rate was under Bush like that matters too.

Also the budget for 2009 was in place when Obama took office so..... Chalk that up to Bush as well. How about we compare percentages of increases there? Remins me of ole Newt stating that more people are living under the poverty line than 50 years ago.... One problem. He ignores population growth. Of course the actual numbers are higher. Wonder what it is in percentages? (hint it's about 7% lower).

If you want to use "facts". Use them correctly.
