This OP-ED seems particularly stupid, even by OP-ED standards. Like usual, it doesn't even remotely attempt to convince anyone of anything, and instead panders to the people who are already predisposed to say "hell yeah" to everything listed there.

And aside from that problem, the contrasting examples given are moronic. I've never heard anyone suggest someone is a terrorist for disagreeing with President Obama, although I remember quite a few people slapping the label "traitor" on anyone who disagreed with President Bush. And while all forms of racism are bad, no matter the source or the target, is the author of this piece suggesting black people and white people in America have totally interchangeable feelings about one another? And while we're on politics, are American progressives REALLY ideologically interchangeable with communists, or is that just the lazy excuse for people who don't want to come up with real arguments?

Liberal or conservative, I feel like we should at least be able to agree that honest, high-minded debate is good. And whatever is wrong with our system, it's made worse by OP-ED pieces filled with overly simplistic, pandering bullshit that appeals to morons and brings out the very worst in political discussion.

In the country of the blind the one-eyed man either becomes king or gets lynched. More likely the latter.
