What hardware is involved in locking AGP frequency on Via A64?

I have a pretty good OC of 2.7 on my Winchester, but it's not stable for 3d apps at that speed. Everything else is fine-DC apps, superpi, all non-3d benchmarks, prime95, etc. Anything 3d kills it in less than 5 seconds. So I am sure that the AGP lock is broken and I'm wondering if more cooling could help. Certainly can't hurt, right 😉.

So, what do I need to cool better is my question? Is the AGP lock a function of the Northbridge, is it part of the clock generator? I'm not sure. The NB already has a big HS on it, but if I attach a small fan to that it'll cool a ton better-I'm just not sure that the NB is responsible for the lock.

Anybody know for sure?
