i just put together my first amd system this weekend after years of intel. see my other post for my optical drive problem. but this post is about an Unknown Device in device manager. ive installed all the drivers, afaik. i dont know what the device could be. its not video or sound related as those are isntalled and working ok. its gotta be a mobo device but ive installed the nvidia chipset drivers. all asus has for the a8n-sli (regular, NOT deluxe or premium) is realtek and nvidia drivers on their site. i have the realtek disabled in the bios though, using an x-fi. everything works. dont know whats missing. any thoughts?

any printers, gamepads, external devices plugged in that you would need a driver for? Webcam? I know that i plugged in my all in one printer up when I first got it and it recognized the printer but not the scanning device until i installed the drivers

Maybe a firewire connector? Probably best to take the original mobo install CD and look at (or reinstall) all the drivers and see what you missed. Or check the Asus website and download all the drivers from there to figure out which you missed. I know for my DFI NF4 mobo, my second Ethernet port needs a third party driver, I'm betting its something like that.

printer is already installed. my xbox360 game pad is installed. my ups is installed. my card reader is installed. there are no other usb devices. asus website only has realtek drivers and chipset drivers. ive got the realtek turned off. this is no bells and whistles version of the board. no secondary lan, no additional sata raid, etc. guess i pop the cd in when i get home and see if anything on there isnt already installed. though, the nvidia chipset software shouldve taken care of all that stuff.
