What hard drives to get for a Macbook?

Well, my refurb blackbook hasn't arrived yet but I'm most likely going to upgrade it to something in the range of 320GB or 500GB...I've been reading some customer reviews on Newegg and it seems that the Samsung Spinpoint M6 500GB is probably the best size and performance so far, and because it's a standard-size 2.5" drive it'll fit just fine in my blackbook.

But let's say if I wanted to get a 7200rpm drive instead...what would the best choice be? Which suppliers do Apple use for their 320GB and 500GB drives?

Well, mine is a Toshiba drive, Tyranicus' came with a Seagate, my buddy's had a Hitachi I think, and his sister had a Seagate.

So, they use a lot of different vendors. The 7200RPM 500GBs are out now, $140 as opposed to the $100 or so for the 5400RPM drive.

I heard before that some of the hard drives equipped with sudden motion sensors cause conflicts with Macbooks...is that true?

And I'm assuming that there shouldn't be much difference in terms of heat or battery life between the 7200rpm and the 5400rpm variants?

The difference is actually almost non-existent given the 2nd and 3rd generation perpendicular recording that they are using, in addition to the fact that things like this 7200 RPM is a 4th generation 7200RPM device... they have actually gotten the power consumption to about equal to or less than the power of the 5400 RPM.
