When a customer returns an item for reasons other than manufacturer default ie. not satisfied with the product, what happents to returned harware?

Does the retailer repackage and sell as new.

Wondering about this because I purchased a new graphics card from Future Shop and the card does not "look" new.

I think so to, well maybe except for processors.....
But cards and other hardware, I'd say yes probably...
However, if the card is from the brand "club3d" its not necesarrely used, they just have crappy packiging i think lol...

im guessing u did not look at the connectors (that go in agp slot) before u installed the card?
I'm not sure, but i think if its really new, there should be no "scratch" marks on the connectors??

Exactly, there were "scratch" marks on the connectors !!

Barely visible though.

Most honest Retailers would offer a discount on returns or and Open Box Price. Unless the item is advertised as New then there really is no obligation other then a working part and full warranty or as advertised...

Reputable and large companys cannot and willnot do that.

First of all it is illegal to sell what are now "used" goods as new. Although I'm sure smaller companies try to get away with it when they can, its a risk that isn't normally taken with larger stores.

However, when packages are opened, and returned in thier original box and whatever, they have the manufacturer reseal/plastic coat/whatever was on them and now missing, and then they come back to the shelves.

But if you buy a drive with like the cable pouch ripped open by someone else who returned it, flip out on them 🙂

My friend sweared up and down the Best Buy does this, he also sweared at he bought hardware from there and when he opened it, it was obvious that it was just reshrunk wrapped.

Best Buy is Future Shop, right?

Anyone here work or know someone who works at Future Shop?

Imagine this: U think your item is not new but used.
So u mail to the company: This item is used, i want a refund or a new one!
Company says: Nope, its new
Its really hard to prove

Opened returns are not to be sold as new per the FTC - if you deal in interstate trade, you come under the FTC rules. Newegg sells their returns as "refurbs". IDK about Future Shop - did you check them out on resellerratings.com before buying??? Apparently NOT - so sad - looks like Future Shop doesn't have much of a future...
