What happens when your **system**.INI file is deleted?

Does windows create another? From what I semi "know", windows won't boot, right? Is there anyway to fix this besides reinstalling windows?

If you have XP, you could always run the repair utility on your installation disk - I think.

Its win.ini by the way, and in xp you cant delete it unless your in safe mode ;)

If you were to delete it normally it would either say no ah heck off, or it would replace it when you wernt looking...

At least that was the general idea of windows system file protection anyway

Both system.ini and win.ini are obsolete and no longer used in Win2K and WinXP. They are only there for legacy 16-bit programs. Any information normally in there is already in the Registry.
