What happens when your CPU dies?

check your mobo manual and see what the red light means

check which fan is moving (PSU or HSF)
 
cpu's either work or don't

but if your computer won't boot, it could be a lot of things besides the CPU

cpu's don't usually go bad before other things (unless they get too hot from a loss of cooling)
