according to the sheriff's department he was estimated going between 130 - 140 mph......skid marks measured 450+ feet , flipped end over end 4 times and finally stopped when he hit a telephone pole 23 feet up the pole......

Can a stock cavalier go that fast, barring downhill assistance? I think not.

Didn't know Cavaliers could go that fast. Well, one less "Domestic Tuner" in the world. Like we need Cavaliers and Focuses with body kits....

It was five posts before I saw a correctly spelled "sorry for your loss"...they had lose and lost, but no loss...

And I know my Escort gets squirrelly around 100, and at ~110 it gets really squirrelly...

I don't even want to imagine what it would be like in my car at 130...in fact, I can't imagine that I'd be able to control it.

My friend had a berreta for awhile, which is essentially a cavalier with a big V6 in it. I thought it hauled ass and handled real well, even at 120. After that, it starts to shutdown or something...I assume from that speed limiter.

Yes its tires were probably rated to 118, so going higher than that isn't possible as the computer shuts down the throttle, regardless of what you do.

Stupid ass teenagers who think they're immortal. I thought the same and could have ended up like this idiot. Some teens just have to learn the hard way, or not be given the opportunity to race/drive in the first place. Too bad somebody doesn't have a little device that measures G forces and speed and if you're under 21 you can't legally drive without it hooked to your car and it will record and send back data to somewhere (like parents).

That reminds me of a friend of mine who just totalled his 03 Cavalier.... best thing I had heard about in ages.... and his crash was only at 55MPH (or so he says...)

PICS! (NOT dialup friendly!)

Edit: Makes me glad I drive a Nissan! Even the Sentra GXE can handle 125'ish comfortably. Toss in the SE-R decal (and hopefully the rest of the parts) it's even better.

So, what did he do?

A couple 360's on I-17 during morning rush hour. =) Oh, he also hit the wall a few times.

LMFAO, Hell no thats not me, I relized my mistake and took that POS cavalier back :p. I have my 92 Mustang back now and I have decided to keep it for a while. Im going to follow some of the good advice that I got for getting credit, and I am joing a credit union and they said after 6 months of being there I can get an auto loan with 2.99 % interest :p

Sucks for the guy, but I wish I coulda did that to the cavalier I had before I took it back :p

Good job. That's wise, and I'd take a 92 rustang over an 03 cavalier any day!

One less moron in the world. Street racers receive absolutely no sympathy from me.

Well Im probally eventually gonna sell it and get a new mustang, but I have to get a longer credit history first. The credit I have is good just not a long enough credit history. Im gonna do a few things to the mustang though while I have it :p... Either gonna add a supercharger or some Nitrous..... Getting new chrome wheels for it tommrow :p.

Cavalier is a sh!tbox. Those things should be limited to 90mph MAX!!! I wouldn't drive one over 75 quite frankly. Assuming, of course, that I ever have the misfortune to drive one.
