after the time runs out it will auto log off, and your screwed, just activate it, if it says that it has already been activate, ring microsoft and bullshit and they will activate it for you...blame SP2, worked for me and I spawned 8 copies off 1 product key and all are "legally" registered...microsoft, what a pack of douche bags!

well i just did the online registration...suprisingly painless, given its a microsoft product ;) i figured theyd want all kinds of crap...ssn, mothers maiden name, cc #, and my license plates but it was pretty easy...this is the first time i've used xp...im not really a big xp fan...still running 2k on my main rig...but the media center thing is too cool...thx stumps for not making me have to wait around and get locked out of my system just to satisfy my curiousity...

AFAIK, it just won't let you log in to windows until you activate.

If you don't activate, after the set time you will not be able to log into windows until you do. The work around is to activate it and be done when you install, because it really isn't that much trouble... unless you are one of those pirate guys that drive up the prices for the rest of us upstanding citizens.

PS: Wrong Forum.

i just wondered what it would do...the beta copy of server 2003 i was playing with a while back gave you 14 days i think...then it would still let you log in, but cut off all network activity...making a server os kinda useless :D
