she get hurt 10 days after getting on the job.

http://nypost.com/2015/11/22/struggling-firefighter-injured-after-just-10-days-into-new-job/

A firefighter who was allowed to graduate the Fire Academy despite failing physical tests has already gone out on medical leave — just 10 days into the job, The Post has learned.

Probationary firefighter Choeurlyne Doirin-Holder injured herself Monday while conducting a routine check of equipment at Queens’ Engine 308 in South Richmond Hill. Getting off the truck, Doirin-Holder missed a step and landed on her left foot, suffering a fracture, sources said.

It was her second shift after a transfer from Engine 301. In training for a hazmat assignment, officers found her struggling to perform the required tasks.

Firefighters called the tripping incident embarrassing — and alarming.

yeah. so now she is eligible for pension if unfit to come back to work..wich she never was fit so i don't see a problem in that. so she gets 3/4th her pay.

sounds like she suffered an injury that could affect anyone no matter their current physical condition. I've seen ball players rip a hamstring running around the bases, and not your Prince Fielder type of ball player either.

People trip all the time. Did she fail the "going down steps" test? No? I doubt she's the first firefighter ever to make a mistake.

What part of the fire fighting physical requirements indicate a human body needs to be impervious to fractured bones?

None.

Oh, wait, now I see the issue;
Doirin-Holder, who turns 40 this month, is one of 282 “priority hires” passed over in 1999 and 2000. Federal Judge Nicholas Garaufis ordered they must get preference as victims of past discrimination against minorities.

At 40, she shouldn't be a fire fighter. But, maybe if they hired her 15 years ago, she wouldn't have been such a klutz.

Thanks for being "transparent" OP.

Wow... only post #2 and we already have a candidate for the "most liberal" post of the day!
"Awwww... it's okay, miss, it could happen to anyone!" [under breath] "...especially if you're not up to the task in the first place."

There were some great videos on the subject (Sargon of Akkad was one, I think...) of how & why she was awarded the position despite failing the physical tests. Even other females who DID pass the tests never made the fuss she did about "affirmative action" bullshit and force their way in to the position.

Even if she hadn't injured herself in record time, in the dumbest way possible, lives would be at risk because she was proven NOT physically able to save lives.

People would die because she could not perform her job. Period.

[EDIT] This is a different firefighter entirely. The one who played all the femi-cards was a young blonde, not this person. So I don't know if this one passed her physical tests or not. Maybe she did. I work with some guys who have injured themselves in similar fashion so I know it's quite possible.
My apologies for mixing up the two. I was hoping it was blondie making her comeback, but that was months ago not 10 days. Time for some more digging.

So does that mean your whole tirade was about a completely different story?

Why cant people who are 40 be fire fighters?

There's probably an argument to be made that someone shouldn't be a fire fighter for the first time at age 40. They won't have the physical resilience of the younger people or the experience of those who have been on the job for a while.

As I already admitted, pretty much, yep. They're somewhat related, but rather than deleting everything and pretending it never happened, I just owned it. [shrug]

I can only hope THIS firefighter got the job by passing all qualifications, rather than playing the ace-cards of "non-white race" "gender" and "ageism". Without more info on that subject I can't criticize it.

I've had guys step out of a vehicle or turn a corner fast and mess up an ankle, it can happen -- but the better your musculature, the likely smaller the injury. That's the only extrapolation to be made without more background info.

But there'd be Ferguson-style riots in the streets for condemning a black woman of pretty much anything today. *sigh*

This could happen to a guy, but we all know that lowering standards for women puts everyone at risk, both the other firefighters and the people they are supposed to help. It's the same thing the military found with combat, and the same thing common sense tells us.

Women are not fit for the same jobs as men in the same percentages due to biological and cultural differences. Big surprise, hey? Guys can't have kids, either, tough shit.

...but...but...b-but... gender is only a social construct! *sob*
If he's got more muscles, he's being a big unfair meanie! He can rescue the mom and she can rescue the children... or pets... or... supervise? o_O

It's kinda sad the word liberal has been co-opted by Statists and Authoritarians when the origin of the word comes from "liberty".
I think it's kind of sad that the same crowd that complains about losing their free speech rights to "political correctness" is always attacking people for saying something that's "liberal."

Hey Cleveland, so your trying to suggest she was truly qualified for the job and fully deserving of pension benefits that come at taxpayer expense.

nice try

Why does the NYFD pension pay out after only 10 days on the job?

Why should anyone, man or woman, be allowed into firefighting if they can't pass the physical exam?

That's because republicans are generally vastly stupid people who are incapable of understanding simple concepts.

Why is she a fire fighter "despite failing physical tests"? Someone explain why that is acceptable please.
