What if you hired someone to watch your house for the weekend and they made some video pretending that everything in your house was theirs and all around acting like a jackass.

You're not going to kick their ass or anything retarded, but you're not going to hire them again next time you go away either.

if he took great care of my house, why wouldn't I hire him again?

it's not like the guy's out running up the milage using the car to run personal errands or anything.

being a parking attendant has got to be a super boring and thankless job... if it makes him happy to pretend that a super nice car is his for 30 seconds, what the hell do I care as long as he's taking good care of the car? heh.

To each his own, rather a pointless arguement. I wouldn't like it if it was my car, you would. Neither of us own a car like that so oh well.

QFT.

I park valet every day at work. I can't imagine caring if one of the parking lot guys took a 30 second movie of them driving my car into its spot.

You also don't own a royce which may or may not be worth more than your current house. Either way, it was a lame video.

does it really make a difference?

some parking attendant took a video of a nice car while parking it.

doesn't seem newsworthy or worth anyone getting annoyed over.

If it was my car, id have him fired.

why? I mean, what exactly did he do aside from a little goofing around that in no way affected your car.

How did he not respect the car? I don't see him putting up his feet on the dashboard or whatnot.

you're an arrogant ass

so what if some parking attendant pretended my car was his for a minute...it's not like he hit something wtih it, or took it for a joyride

let the peon have his fun for a second...

It would be MY car, I would be the only ass to ever touch the driver seat.

Most people are of the opinion that this guy should just park the car and not "play" with it. Who knows what else these guys are up to.

All he did was stop to let his friend video him sitting in the car before he parked it. BFD...

a) It's not nice to think of anyone as a peon... This "peon" could be a hard working fellow trying to support his wife and kids...

b) I would never own a $350,000 car

c) If I did have a $350,000 car, I'd be able to afford a cab so that my $350,000 car wouldn't be given to a stranged who doesn't make that in 10 years.

d) I'd also get a prius for everyday driving and only take the $350,000 car to events that warrant a $350,000 car

Shens on c and d. A person who owns a $350,000 car doesn't obsess over it. They are toys and likely not overly important to the owner. If some parking attendant fvcks it up that's what insurance and lawyers are for.

The CEO of the company I work for drives his Bentley Continental GT to work almost everyday.

Everyone forgets that the parking attendant is probably better at parking the car than you are. Practice pays off and if someone parks 200 cars a day 6 days a week, I'd assume it'd be safer in their hands than in mine.

besides he did nothing wrong, the display was not public and it didnt mess anything up.

Calling shens is a bit much, though I'll say that you're right - I can't fairly comment on the situation unless I'm in it myself. Right now, I'd baby a $350,000 car like it was made out of glass... When (if) I can afford a $350,000 then, yes, it would be similar to my current self buying a camry.

Though no shens on D- I would own multiple cars. Same way I own a special shirt that has paint splattered all over it for when I want to do some grunt work, I'd drive a $350,000 to situations I would need to impress clients, a prius for trips to the video store, an SUV for when I need to go to home depot, etc. Tell me, would you tie sheetrock onto the roof of your bentley?

Nay just a stack of plywood. Sheetrock might get dust all over it!

That's not exactly fair - yes, some punk as* kids work as parking attendants, but my local brazilian joint has mostly hard working immigrants who are trying to work their way up from parking attendant to small business owners. Same thing with every industry - there are people who work their butts off and their are lazy people who just glide through life.

This might be the dumbest thread in recent history.

I can see no harm - zero - in a valet doing this (assuming that's even what the film depicts - I didn't see any sign that that's who this person is). He appears to be driving the car with appropriate care, and quite likely values his short drive in it MORE than its owner values owning it.

Sometimes I get really really frustrated with this board - people here are almost unbelievably uptight. Mind your own business and enjoy your own life . . .

It goes well beyond that, however I'm sure its a safe bet there maybe at best 2 or 3 ATOTers who could afford one. You are not one of them, therefore you would probably act the same way.

But it doesnt matter. Even things I can readily afford I do not easily loan out. Which is what seperates the smart from the dumb people. Based on your words I can guess where you fall.

Actually, cost of the car doesn't really matter because, if you are a sane and normal person, you buy within your means. Meaning the person who owns a $350,000 car has millions of dollars and can afford another one. Which means it's worth about as much as a civic to him. The only cars that wouldn't follow this rule are irreplaceable models, which you wouldn't be driving around in this fashion. So yea, if you don't give a crap if someone filmed themselves parking your civic, then you probably wouldn't give a crap if someone filmed themselves parking your $350,000 car, assuming you had the owners money. Carry on...
