What happens when Titanfall runs out of VRAM? does it rever to system memory?

If so does this mean you can run titanfall on very high texture resolution on a 1GB HD 7850?

You wouldn't want too. Your frame rates drop like a rock when you force your gpu to pull from system memory. It has to stop rendering a scene until it has loaded that data.

yeah but in titanfall thats the only option to adjust.

Texture resolution thats it, nothing else and that only uses VRAM so say it uses 1GB of VRAM to do medium which is what I was told it does. It looks worse than a platystation 2 game for some reason.

Found that my 2gb gtx770 would stutter a bit if i went above high settings at 768p. I know the vram is fully used with very high but not so much with high.Youtube and other claims show anywhere in the 2200-2500mb range at 1080p just on very high.

There's so little difference quality wise above high i wouldn't really sweat it anyways. Game doesn't look that good to be pushing a gtx770 but it does.

I always said when the GTX770 launched and people recommended it left and right that it was a tactic by Nvidia to gimp the GPU with 2 GB of ram. Ya, the card performed great at launch but we ALL knew higher resolution textures were coming that would eat up VRAM yet people still recommended the card.

AMD did right by putting 3GB of VRAM in their cards but well, I have to hand it to Nvidia, they know how to make a dollar.

Yea, I blame the consoles. We were getting robbed back in the day with 1gb and 2gb where alot of ram went to waste (Unless you were high resolution gaming), but with the new consoles you will need a minimum of 3gb to match performances. One of the main reasons I went with the 970 as my upgrade was cause the less expensive cards were all sitting at 2gb. What nice is apparently games will make good use of extra memory by caching shaders and such, so even those monster cards with 6 and 8gb ram eventually fill up. Now there is no reason to skimp on memory.

Yeah I gonna save up and get a 4GB GTX 970 next year.

Need to wait for AMD to launch R9 300 series to force nvidia to bring down their prices

Hell might get a R9 280 3GB they are going dog cheap already

The 970gtx is already the #1 doller per performance card on the market, I won't expect it to come down for quite some time. I would see other cards come down to its level first.

I personally enjoy Hawken more then Titanfall, runs miles better and has physics:) Uses the incredibly efficient UE3.Pretty much any game on UE3 is just awesome.

Been stuck on a x4 9150e+4gb ddr2 cause my b75 motherboard for my i7 3770 recently crapped out, Titanfall and its source engine is not even close to playable all while Hawken plays with 45-72fps which is awesome and it barely sips any vram in the process. :)
