What happens when Fed-Ex says they shipped your package but you never got it?

I ordered a new case a week ago from newegg and just checked tracking. They say that they delivered it Wednesday and left it at the door. I just called them and the lady was kind of like "Oh well, we'll track it," but I think she was implying "You're screwed." Do they have insurance for this sort of think with their deliveries or is it pretty much out of their hands once they claim to have delivered it?

Any recourse with my credit card co?

Well you can arrange with them to have the package left in your absence.

Call them and tell them you want to "submit a claim". Be specific about what you want done about this and see what they can do. If they say they'll call you back, ask when. Get names of everybody you speak to, so you can hold them to whatever promises they make. If you are not getting satisfaction with one person, don't be afraid to ask for his supervisor. Go up as many levels as it takes.

The last part are good rules when doing business with anybody.

Good luck.

Unless you signed a form stating that you would let them leave packages at your door, they are not supposed to. If they do it anyways, then FedEx is responsible for replacing the package. Newegg should be able to ship you out a new case once they agree that the package was "lost" and then newegg would file an insurance claim with FedEx to get their money back. I believe FedEx insures for $100 automatically but for anything more expensive, newegg would have to pay to insure it for that amount ... So if the case is less than $100 you should be perfectly fine, will just have to wait.

And did you permit them to deliver it without you being there to sign for it?

It is not your responcibility to deal with FedEX. Newegg is the person who paid FedEX. Complain to them that you have not received your package. Hlaf the time the shipping company will not deal with the receiver of the goods since technically they are being employed by the original shipper.

Newegg is the one who will replace your missing goods. It is their problem to deal with the company they chose to ship the goods. That is just part of how it works. They should have someone at Newegg that has to deal with this all the time. Also since Newegg uses FedEX so much FedEX is more inclined to help them out over an individual with one lost package.

Of course if you signed the paper that said "leave the package here even if I am not home" then you are just SOL.

Yes, I signed the release for them to leave it at my door in the past. And once before the same thing happened and after a hunt I found it sitting in front of my neighbor's door. But it's waaaay too late for that now, it was supposedly delivered 3 days ago.

Well FedEx is crapping out on me. They are refusing to make good or file a claim because of the bloody waiver. I guess that means that as long as you sign a waiver they can throw the damn package off a bridge and you have to suck it up. It would seem reasonable that the waiver would only apply if they drop off the package when you are not home...well I was home, they didn't come...must have delivered it to the wrong damn house. Just a warning to you all...FedEx ain't all that.
