What happens to stuff that gets in your eye like eyelashes, etc? Does it just collect behind your eyes? If it does, what happens to it back there?

I think it slides down to the corner, then just washes out from tears.

yep, as you blink it get pushed in towards the tear ducts by your nose. That's why you get all that gunk in the same area sometimes in the morning.

Don't worry nothing ends up behind you eyes, I've had a contact fold and get stuck behind an eyelid for a while. I finally worked it out, not a fun experience...

that's one of the things that scares me about contacts.

i always have this fear of the contact working it's way around my eyeball, and severing the optic nerve.

There is a small duct behind the eyeball called the "Spheroid Waste Duct." Foreign bodies lodged in the eye are directed towards this duct by blinking action. The duct empties into a cavity called the "Spheroidium Waste Duct Galloes", which empties into your esophagus.

Essentially, anything that gets in your eye and isn't washed out, eventually winds up in your stomach, where it's either digested or eliminated thru normal bowel function.
