what happens to the fans under Vista sleep mode?

I have a new laptop and currently considering whether to put the computer under sleep mode or turn it off completely. Does anybody know whether or the power supply in my laptop will be running during Vista's sleep mode? How about the fans?
 
If you mean suspend to RAM(S3) then it depends on the BIOS and what it's ACPI implementation does as to whether the fans will shut off and no it won't power off completely. If you mean hibernation(S4) then yes everything will be shutoff once an image of memory is saved in hiberfil.sys.
