what happens to an overnight mail that doesnt get delivered?

I sent an overnight package, but the last 2 days the person I send it to of course was at work and they never told me taht the USPS requires a signature for overnight....anyway she flies outta town at 8 tom. morning...so will it get returned or sit there till she gets back into town

shouldnt they tell u that it needs a signature if it does...damn it

After a few attempts it will be returned to sender. Call your local post office and ask them or go to usps.com.

The USPS express mail label clearly indicates a signature is required for delivery, and there is a spot on the form to waive signature if you desire so.

Postal will keep the express package in hold at local facility, it usually is returned if uncollected after a week. But you can call them to expedite the return process, or have it kept there a few days longer than normal, if necessary.
