what happens if?

I paid for a ticket at the courthouse and they didn't make me sign the receipt? Can I theoretically deny the transaction with my CC company?

I was just curious...cause once you pay it's in their database that you paid..I don't know who keeps track of if a payment is denied...

I wasn't gonna try it but I kept thinking what if you did that. I mean, do they have someone to check this? A bounced check I'm sure would probably be found but if a month later after you got your statement you denied the charges then what? The thing shows up as already paid in their system...the funds just dissappear from their account and I don't think they would ever notice...I maybe wrong though
