It all depends. If you are dressed right, you probably are OK. If your rear tire goes, same thing. If your front tire goes and you aren't dressed properly you lose a lot of skin.

You become an organ donor and the people waiting for a kidney send a thank you letter to the tire manufacture.

But you're most definitely going to fall? I can imagine falling off and rolling under a nearby car or into something.

No, you're not guaranteed to fall. People have hit deer and not gone down. It's a definite possibility, but it's not a certainty.

FBB, have you ever had a tire blow out on a car? Did you ever feel that pull to one side? Was it a front tire? Did you notice the significant increase in steering difficulty?

Now consider that you only have 2 tires, one of them is gone, and half the weight of the bike + you is resting on basically the rim + a little rubber that will not hold its shape. Now consider yourself flying down the highway at 55+

Yes, you would be screwed. Of course you're going to fall. This is common sense. Everyone knows this. ;)

I had a rear motorcycle tire blow out once. I was driving about 50MPH on a little traveled highway. I noticed the bike was no longer tracking exactly straight but I was able to stay upright as long as I kept my speed up. When I slowed to pull off the road then the rear wheel and tire separated. Didn't have any problems other than with the lower bike height the kick stand would no longer support the bike at an angle and I had to lift it onto the center stand. This was on a one liter street bike weighing around 400# dry.

I should be clear here though; you need both talent and a good bit of luck to stay up, but it's possible.

Yes, they go up/forward instead.

I've never had a front tire go out on me, but i've had a rear tire go flat instantly at 80mph after I ran over a log and it punctured it. I didn't even notice other than the fact the bike started handling funny. I was able to pull over with no problems.

A guy on a Sportster had a deer bounce off of the bike and he (the rider) kept on riding. And this guy hit a deer that actually jammed into the bike but he kept it upright.

Admittedly both the Sportster and the Valkyrie are heavier bikes, but it's still possible if the rider doesn't panic.

I had a front tire go out on my Ninja 250 (hit something sharp evidently). . . it deflated suddenly. I was going about 45 mph and it pulled me to the right immediately and lurched me forward alot. I managed to brake slowly vs. suddenly (despite me wanting to slam on the brakes) and managed to get it over upright.

Yep. You most likely will be OK if a tire blows.

A car pulls to one side because of non-equal rolling resistance on the two sides. A bike doesn't suffer from that problem. It will slow you down, and make it handle a bit awkwardly, but like many things with bikes, as long as you don't panic, you can recover.

So I was driving down I-5 doing 65-70 mph on my KLR 650 and went to change lanes and when I did I noticed the steering felt a little weird, so I decided to take the next exit coming up and check my tire, as soon as I changed lanes my bike shot over to the right and then over to left into the other lane uncontrolably, I thought I was going down for sure (brace for impact), luckily traffic was way behind me and not right next to me. Mind you I was doing 65-70 mph, things happen real fast, so I shifted my weight and applied the rear brake and finally got to the side of the highway and looked at my tire, there were no punctures of any kind that I could see, and I checked my psi before I left on my trip (32psi). Well upon further inspection of the tube and tire It appeared that the tube was kinked and had a few bends and wore a decent hole in the tube (weird), and decided it was time to give way. That scared the HOLY S&!T out of me!!
