Sorry for such a simple question but I have never used a P4 system (always Athlons at home) so I am not sure if there is a difference. At work, my P4 2.2 came with 128MB of PC2700. Yes 128MB because it was the minimum that could be ordered and the sys admins were going to swap them all out anyway.
So I just got my 2 x 512MB PC2100 chips. They seem to be working fine. Registers as a full 1 gig of memory. But my concern is there is going to be some big performance difference considering we went from PC2700 to PC2100. I am not overclocking, obviously, so I assume FSB is still 233 so the 266 PC2100 should run fine right? If that is the case why does Gateway bother equipping the systems with PC2700?
Would it be better to have 512MB of PC2700 instead?
Thanks!
