What happens if two different cable signals go into the same line? Does the world end?

Let's say you've got a two to one splitter, and you have a cable signal output (separate signals) going each into the splitter, and then a tv hooked up to another end trying to receive a signal. What happens? So if I had a vcr tuned to channel 12 and another tuned to 14, and both were asking the receiving tv to be on channel 3, would the world end?

Wow, it's really to early to think like this. I'm guessing that it would just give a garbage signal...

Skoorb!!! Why don't you just run an isolated cable drop to the back room with the cable modem, or go with Hellsouth? It shouldn't be too hard to run a drop from the demarc back to that room. Then hook the drop up to the outlet there, and voila'! That way you avoid creating a black hole.

Oh I've already figured out my othe rproblem I think. I was just wondering about this. Hellsouth doesn't offer service on my street, and I am hoping to drop their ass as soon as VOIP is available in birmingham anyway. hellsouth can suck a nut.

You can get VOIP in Alabama through Packet8 but not Vonage.
