What happens if the heatsink is sort of mounted properly?

Right, owing to massive inexperience and not bothering to look into anything, I stuck a heatsink on without removing the thermal pad provided with it (I did remove the plastic rip-off - I'm not that stupid). What's the problem I hear you ask.
Well, I also stuck on some thermal paste as well as the interface pad provided on the heatsink (it was in the box too, so I figured I should really use it). Is this a problem? the cpu stays nice and cool (1.2GHz @ 43C when idling in windows), so I figure it's OK. But am I missing something? Bacause I lost half my bodyweight in sweat cramming the hsf on first time, I'd rather no redo it unless absolutely necessary. What do you think?
Thanks,
Pete

Oooops my mistake ,well if the temp is ok don`t worry, but you can remount and reapply properly if you are not happy with it, but I would do a full load stress test if it`s fine then leave it.

I'd say that if you're getting 43 at max, then you're doin real well. Don't fix something if it ain't broke.
