What happens if I unplug a USB drive running Ubuntu?

If I have the UBuntu OS running off a USB Flash drive, what would happen if I just yanked the drive out while it's still running? Will it restart the computer? Will the computer shut off?

Just a curiosity question.

Whatever's already been paged in will keep running, but anything that causes I/O will crash and eventually, probably pretty quickly, Xorg will crash probably quickly followed by the rest of the system.
