What happens if i put D4 brake fluid into

into my 93' maxima that says to put in D3 brake fluid? i'm just wondering

While you should not mix the two fluids, it is acceptable to use DOT4 fluid in a DOT3 system provided that you flush the system first.

The real problem would come if you mixed DOT3 with DOT5.

IIRC DOT3 and DOT4 are compatible, but DOT3/4 and DOT5 are not. 3/4 are glycol based and 5 is silicone based, i believe.

It would work out much better if you flushed the system and put in only DOT 4.
