What happens if I install Windows 2000 Advanced Server if Windows 98 SE is on the same computer?

I have Windows 98 SE. I also want to install Windows 2000 Advanced Server. Can I install Windows 2000 Advanced Server without totally wiping out Windows 98 and erasing all of my hard-drive contents?

I already have a small enough hard-drive(6 gb). But I dont have the money now. Saving up for a better rig. Can anybody "lend" it to me? 😉

You COULD install 2K server on the same partition, but it wouldnt work too great...your program files folder would get shared between the 2 and that would mess all your programs up. Win2k would give you a boot loader and automaticly add 98 I believe...but your best bet would be to get partition magic and make a seperate partiton for 2k.

I assume you want to add w2k advanced server in addition to 98se. I did this about a month ago. I had absolutely no problems doing it. Simply run the install cd and tell it you want to add w2k advanced in addition, not as an upgrade. When it asks you, you want to keep fat32, not change to ntfs. After the installation was complete, w2k advanced was my default os, but you can easily change that if you wish. You will have to reinstall your programs for w2k though. I dont guarantee everything will go without a hitch for you (just my disclaimer so I don't get yelled at later) but it went fairly straight forward for me. No Problems.
ps. you don't need to partition yourself. Everything is taken care of during setup.

Thanks for the suggestions guys!

Duffman,
I would like to go the safe way, and I will partition.

And, oh, thank you ICSVortex 😉
