What happens if I install an ASPI Driver on XP?

I have Nero and CloneCD on my XP system right now and both are working just fine (well, don't know about CloneCD since I haven't used it).

I have this DVD movie (Drop Dead Gorgeous) that I would like to copy and give the DVD to my little cousin and I have never copied a DVD before so I'm a total newbie. Because of that, I'm gonna use DVD2SVCD. But on that site, it says I will need to have an ASPI driver installed; d/led and ran the ASPI Check program - it said there's no ASPI driver on my XP system. I think I've read about ASPI drivers preventing them from burning CDs correctly and I'm worried that will happen to me. So as of now, there's no ASPI driver, but if I install it, will it affect my burning or anything else?

Hmm..sounds good, I think I'll go ahead and install the ASPI driver a little later. And how is the quality of the movie ripped by DVD2SVCD?

Pretty great, almost DVD quality. Probably about 80% or so of DVD quality. Something like that.

I don't know about the quality of that program, and this is kinda OT, but I have installed ASPI 4.71, but when I ripped an episode from the Simpsons Season 2 DVD, it only ripped at 1.6x. The drive is 16x, and in SmartRipper, in the box where it says ASPI reading, it is not checked. I am stumped about this, and I'm kinda sad that it only rips at 1.6x.

oh, my friend said that he was ripping at the same speed, and he had the same problem, but when he bought a new DVD-ROM, it showed that ASPI was installed, in SmartRipper, so he was able to burn at 4x. *sniff*

The fabric of reality will be torn, all of the demons of Hell will be unleashed, and mankind as we know it will cease to exist. Until the end of time a few scattered souls will struggle to survive, hoarding ammunition, food, and fuel.

Wait, check that, that's the plot for the Road Warrior.
